Come join us for the Hermès Australia's Festival des Métiers (Festival of Crafts) at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Sydney from 1st to the 6th October.
This is a free public exhibition showcasing Hermès artisans. The exhibition will recreate the working environment of the artisans in the Hermès workshops in France. The exhibit will feature Hermès craftsmen and women demonstrating the elaborate techniques involved in crafting their magnificent signature leather bags and glorious silk scarves.
Interaction with the artisans is encouraged! Hermès has asked Translationz to provide French/English speaking interpreters at each artisan station. Interpreters from Translationz will help facilitate conversations between the public and the French-speaking artisan.
Come along and interact with these artisans and ask questions while they create their luxury designs. The following craftspeople will be showcased:
Maronquinier – Leather craftsmen
Imprimers – Silk printers
Graveur – Silk engraver
Cravate – Tie maker
Peintre Main – Hand painting
Horloger – watchmaker
Sellier – Saddle maker
The Festival des Métiers exhibition has been traveling the world and has previously been exhibited in Paris, Toronto, London, Beijing, Shanghai, New York, Houston and now Sydney, Australia.
This is an intimate and personal access to intermingle with these talented artisans. We are excited to be a part of this glorious event!
