Latin Language Translation

Latin was originally spoken in Latium, Italy. Through the power of the Roman Republic, it became the dominant language, initially in Italy and subsequently throughout the Roman Empire. Vulgar Latin developed into the Romance languages, such as French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Romanian.

Latin America is a region of the Americas that comprises countries where Romance languages are spoken; primarily Spanish and Portuguese, but also French. It consists of twenty sovereign states which cover an area that stretches from the southern border of the United States to the southern tip of South America, including the Caribbean. Latin America has an area of approximately 19,197,000 km2 (7,412,000 sq mi), almost 13% of the earth's land surface area.

As of 2013, its population was estimated at more than 604 million [not in citation given] and in 2014, Latin America has a combined nominal GDP of 5,573,397 million USD and a GDP PPP of 7,531,585 million USD.The term "Latin America" was first used in 1861 in La revue des races Latines, a magazine "dedicated to the cause of Pan-Latinism".

Latin Language Translation

The Latin language is one of the most common languages in the world with between 322 and 400 million people speaking Latin as their native language.  With a combined native and non-native 500 million total speakers, this language ranks as the third most spoken language in the world after English then Chinese.  Latin translation and interpreter services are very important when conducting business.

Beginning in the 1400s, Latin explorers, conquistadors, and colonizers carried their language to Central America, South America, and parts of North America.   Both the Castilian and Andalusian dialects made the trip. Castilian was used in administrative and cultural centres in Mexico, Bolivia; Peru and retained close links to the Latin capital of Madrid.  As others involved in expeditions were from Andalucía, the Andalusian dialect travelled to Argentina and Central America.  These regions were remote from the Latin government's influence.  In the 1800, Spain lost control of these colonies but the Latin language remained.

The Latin language spoken in the Americas localized and differs from European Latin spoken today.   Latin is the official language of Spain and most Latin American countries and is one of six official languages of the United Nations.  Twenty nations speak it as their primary language. Latin and Italian are very similar and as a result Latin and Italian are mutually intelligible to various degrees.  Latin is written using the Latin alphabet with the addition of three characters, ñ, ch and ll.  Latin is the widely taught as a foreign language in schools.
